BNI International

Dr. Misner was a management consultant when he started BNI in 1985. He worked with companies that needed assistance in the area of strategic planning and organizational development. As a business consultant, he received most of his business through referrals. However, he was not satisfied with the types of business groups that existed and he put together a networking group that was structured, focussed on doing business and had an emphasis on positive reinforcement and support. That organization became BNI.

Business Network International has seen tremendous growth over the years. Since its beginnings, BNI has grown to over 5000 chapters, consisting of more than 110,000 members in many countries around the globe. Last year, members of BNI passed over 5.6 million referrals worldwide that generated over $2.3 billion (USD) for its members!

BNI Canada

The National Directors of BNI Canada are Don Morgan and Nancy Holland. In June of 1995, Don and Nancy were visiting friends in St. Louis and were invited out to a BNI meeting by their friends. What they saw impressed them so much that they launched BNI in Canada later that same year. The first Canadian Chapter was also the first BNI Chapter to be launched outside of the United States.

Don's background provides the experience necessary to guide BNI's growth in Canada. With over 30 years in the field of psychology, organizational development, and business ownership, Don has mastered the skills of helping people and businesses grow.

Don co-authored a book with Dr. Ivan Misner, Masters of Networking. By mid-October, 2000, it was #3 on the Wall Street Journal Best Sellers list.

Don's partner Nancy Holland has a different perspective. Nancy began her career as a top ten Canadian skier, who participated in two Winter Olympics on the Canadian team. Nancy realized early on the importance of getting the right support at the right time.

Nancy compares being in business to training for the Olympics. "Being in business is as hard as training for the Olympics. When I was on the national team I knew what I had to do because my coaches gave me a training schedule. When you are a businessperson, nobody tells you what to do or how to do it. It's one of the reasons BNI is so unique and necessary. BNI teaches people how to market themselves and find new business. Top BNI members are as dedicated as the top athlete who's not afraid to go the extra distance in the quest for perfection."
